My name is Laura Arminda Kingsley. I am a Dominican-American artist based in Zurich. I work in many media, but I mostly make acrylic paintings, ceramic sculpture, drawing and video.
In my work, I look at the Atlantic through the lens of deep time, giving equal importance to; the microscopic and the macroscopic; folklore and science; the magic and the real, and the archaic and the new, to offer the viewer a non-hierarchical view of the natural world and human history. This necessity to use my imagination, science and history to gain a new perspective on humanity surged out of my grappling with painful realities. In particular; the rampant pollution of the Caribbean Sea I witnessed as a child; the institution of slavery and its legacy in my community, but foremost my desire not to let these realities define me.
I am a graduate of Altos de Chavón the School of Design, Hunter College and California College of the Arts. I’ve exhibited my work in the U.S.A, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. I am looking forward to expanding my network and opening the doors to collaborative efforts and new exhibition opportunities.
My name’s Aisling, I am a disabled director, producer and writer based in London, and have recently created an interdisciplinary theatre and performance company with sound designer Calum Perrin. I have written for Dazed, Huck, Red Pepper and the London Review of Books.
I work with theatre practitioners, communities and young people. I am passionate about disabled-led creative work. I have been an elected Labour Party councillor in Lewisham since 2018 and serve as a trustee for a local arts centre, The Albany. In 2020 I founded Good Behaviour, an autistic-led theatre and performance company.
