Sawdah Bhaimiya, Journalist

My name is Sawdah pronounce soda, – yup, just like the drink – and I’m a writer and freelance journalist. I am currently the editor-in-chief and co-founder of Diaspora Speaks Magazine at Queen Mary University of London.

I started my journey in journalism just over a year ago and I’ve had some exciting opportunities amongst interviewing film directors, attending employment tribunals, starting my own radio show, and having my writing featured in Time Out London. I’m a self-starter and I have the drive and ambition to take initiative when needed.

Working in student media means you’re not always getting paid for your work, and there’s nobody pushing you to be a better journalist. Instead, I took matters into my own hands trying my hand at all the different types of journalism. I’m that type of person that is always ready to take on a challenge and jump into a new opportunity. If you’re looking for a freelance journalist who has bags of enthusiasm and a wide range of skills, I’m your girl!

Hannah Watts, Graphic Designer

I am a Graphic Designer and Artist currently based in London. I graduated from Shillington College of Graphic Design last year. Before that, I studied Fine Art at Edinburgh University and the Florence Academy of Art. I also have experience in Printmaking – practising at Print Club London and Slaughterhaus Print Studio.

I always take inspiration from my surroundings and love to travel. A lot of my creativity comes from tropical countries – I love the nature in these places and the vibrant colours which I like to bring back into my own work. I strive to push the boundaries of what is traditionally acceptable in my designs.
