Since day one, UnderPinned has been built to support the next generation of creative entrepreneurs.
As UAL’s official End of Year Show partner, we’ll be showcasing selected London College of Fashion students’ End of Year Projects for a July Takeover. All students’ work will be presented as a beautiful Portfolio made on the UnderPinned Virtual Office.
Join us for our upcoming event with UAL on ‘Starting Your Career After University‘, this Thursday, 9th July, to learn how to take a Fashion degree and use it to start a freelance job career!
My name’s Maisie Chalk, I’m a 2nd Year Womenswear Student at London College of Fashion. This project shows the journey I undertook to find and define my aesthetic and identity as a fashion designer. I concluded that my design aesthetic focuses around creating an alternative community rooted by British youth subculture. Working during a pandemic allowed me to develop a DIY approach to designing. Going forward, I want to gain the experience to start up a small lifestyle brand that scopes across design as a whole.
Hi I’m Rana Mohamed, I study BA Womenswear at London College of Fashion. Graduating this year 2020. My collection is called What is your Qabil? (Tribe). The inspiration comes from my family and my Somali culture, specifically my mum, as the project is based on her story fleeing from the Somali Civil War and becoming a refugee in Amsterdam. Through this collection, I will be re-using her old traditional Somali clothes and the clothes she war during the War. My aim after graduating is to continue having a story or a message through my collection.
