Networking is more than just finding clients, it’s about finding your cheerleaders and supporters. Every day this week we’re Showcasing...
Every Monday we showcase the best of the UnderPinned Community, putting a spotlight on two freelancers whose work we believe deserve a special mention.
Want to be in the running to have your work on our magazine? Make a Portfolio on our Virtual Office and show us why you stand out from the crowd.
Since day one, UnderPinned has been built to support the next generation of creative entrepreneurs.
As London College of Fashion‘s official End of Year Show partner, we’ll be showcasing selected LCF students’ End of Year Projects, from Womenswear, Menswear and Jewellery, for a July Takeover.
All students’ work is being presented as a beautiful Portfolio made on the UnderPinned Virtual Office.
My name’s Conor Kearney. My final collection was based around the relationship between globalisation and cultural dilution. I referenced the city of Amsterdam and looked at how global interconnectivity and sub-cultural emergences had altered the city and overshadowed its traditions.
Using a range of primary research, I looked at the city from the perspective of a visiting tourist, highlighting tourist clichés and global stigma. In the coming years, I hope to complete an MA in Menswear and eventually start up my own brand.
My name’s Ziwei Qu, I’m a London College of Fashion BA Fashion Design Technology Menswear Graduate. My collection is about common coping mechanisms that rely less on personal interaction, leaning towards escapism.
By expanding our fantasies, alternative lives and new realities can be explored. Connecting to others in our actuality through expressing our identity reduces isolation and solitary escapism. My collection was inspired by Korean brand Junn.J and Craig green. Also graphic designer Bauhaus and artist Superstudio.
